ULTRALEGGERA is a minimalist light metal chair. Thanks to its exceptional qualities it is the chair of the future. Designed in 2019 by Oskar Zięta, it was conceived with maximum functionality in mind, as a response to Gio Ponti’s iconic Superleggara chair from 1957.
ULTRALEGGERA is thus a manifesto chair. Its final form and properties, implied by monomateriality, are like a lens concentrating complex issues from the fields of ecology, technology and economics.
As the name indicates, ULTRALEGGERA is an ultra-light seating – its RAW version weighs only 1660 g.
Moreover, it is ultra-durable – tests performed by Zieta Studio proved it can endure a load of the stunning 1208 kg.
Above all, ULTRALEGGERA is a stylish and timeless piece of furniture, a contemporary metal chair of a minimalist shape. Thanks to its lightness and durability it is a product applicable both to private and public spaces, such as, for instance, health-care institutions and office spaces.
Last but not least, its universal form makes it fit spaces in every style: from classical apartments to industrial lofts.
ULTRALEGGERA is currently the world’s lightest metal chair and the only fully recyclable seating available on the market. The “monomateriality” that implies recyclability is the characteristic that makes it an eco-friendly object.

ULTRALEGGERA metal chair is built on an ultra-lightweight, resilient frame made with innovative FiDU technology (Freie Innen Druck Umformung), with a laser-cut seat and a backrest. Most importantly, it is entirely made of one material – the highest quality aluminium.
The complete recovery of the aluminium is achieved thanks to the use of a single raw material alloy in the entire product. The frame, seat and backrest made of aluminium are joined with aluminium joints without any additional materials and without covering it with additional finishing layers.
ULTRALEGGERA was awarded the Must Have 2020 Award , as well as the MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award 2020 Best of Award in the Product Category.

FiDU is an innovative technology of forming steel with compressed air, conceived by Oskar Zięta. The method is based on forcing air under high pressure into welded steel elements. During this process, from a two-dimensional piece of steel, a three-dimensional object with unique properties is created. FiDU technology produces not only beautiful but also functional forms. A tightly rolled metal profile, slowly filled with air, unfolds like a growing plant.
